CLT
Nomenclature: Container Loading Trailer
Part Number: 209656
The CLT is especially valuable when used as both a container handling device (for lifting, handling, truck or aircraft loading), and as a container transport device (for highway or rough terrain travel). The self-loading CLT can be used to lift and load ISO containers or military shelters, transport them over the road or on rough terrain, and unload and position them at their final destination. It facilitates the intermodal transport of containers in forward operating areas where more expensive assets such as cranes, forklift trucks, container handlers, hook-lift systems, trailers, and K-loaders may not be available.
The CLT is also capable of roll-on/ roll-off loading of 8.5-ft. tall ISO Containers to and from C130 aircraft. Up to two containers can be loaded per aircraft with the auxiliary C130 Loading Kit.
Each CLT system consists of a front steerable half part and a rear trailer part along with interconnecting brake and electrical lines to connect to the tow vehicle. After connection to each end of a container by means of twistlock bolts, the CLT raises the container to ride height in just a few seconds with its on-board diesel-powered hydraulic system. The CLT can be towed at highway speeds up to 80 kph (50 mph) or on rough terrain at reduced speeds. When not connected to a container, the CLT can be coupled together as a 4-wheel trailer for transport by road, rail, ship, or air.
Each CLT includes an integral side lifting capability to permit loading and unloading of other transport vehicles for containers weighing up to 24 metric tons (52,800 lbs). This capability also permits cross-loading of vehicles (such as commercial to military) at intermodal points. For highway travel at 85 kph (50 mph), system capacity is 20.6 metric tons (45,320 lbs).
The CLT system includes a 6.2 hp diesel engine powered hydraulic system with four cylinders on each half part to provide the power required for all connection and lift sequences. The CLT’s unique patented design also provides for a balanced 3-wheel handling position for each half and self-powered wheels for ease of unloaded movement and positioning.
